When opening the app for the first time you will be presented with an empty Projects list. From here you can tap the “Create Project” button to start the process.

From here you will be given several options inside of the “Create New” menu. Once here you can choose to create a new project from scratch or you can create a project by importing an .FDX file from Final Draft.
If you import an .FDX file, the project name, and scene details will be created automatically based on the information available in there .FDX file.

If you tap the “Create a new project” button then you will be presented with the Project Details pop up to enter in project details. Only “Project Title” is required, but other details like Description, Director, Director of Photography, and Producer show up in other places throughout the app like on Project Cards and in various places in PDF exports.

If you imported an .FDX file, your project is now populated with details and scenes for you to begin creating shots. If you created a new project from scratch your next step is to create scenes. Tap the “Add Scene” button to get started.

In the New Scene pop up you have the option to enter various scene details. These all show up in various places within the app and in PDF exports.
If you import an .FDX file for creating projects your Scene Number, Description, Page Count, Location, Location Type, and Time of Day automatically entered and saved to scenes for you. Always double check these import values once the project is created because some formatting errors can lead to unpredictable results.

Once you have a scene created you can begin creating Shots. This process is covered in another topic.
