Inside of CineLog Pro there is a settings icon in the bottom right of the main page view. Here you will find information and user preference settings that may be useful to you.

The first tile will let you know what version of the app you are using. If you ever contact support for assistance with an issue, this is where you can find that information.

The Statistics section will show you a total count of Projects, Scenes, Shots, and Location Scouts you currently have saved. This is strictly informational and is just there for you to brag about the hard work you put in!

User Account #

The next section is the User Account section. Here you can log out of the app if you wanted to.

You can also see the cloud sync status of your work in car you’re been in a remote area with no network access. This let’s you know if you have changes that need to be synced to the cloud and if it doesn’t happen automatically for some reason you can tap the icon to force a sync.

This is also here you can create manual backups and restore activity if you wanted to. More on this later.

This section also allows you to manage your Contacts database. More on this later.

And finally, you can see your subscription status. Tapping this icon will let you start a subscription or upgrade form a monthly to an annual subscription.

If you tap the Backup and Restore icon you’ll be presented with the manual backup and restore menu. This feature is not required and is left over from early app development, but can be useful in some instances where you may have legacy project data that is not compatible with future version of the app. There is also a simple media troubleshooting option here if you ever experience reference images not syncing correctly on a new device, for example you created a project on your phone but later installed CineLog Pro on your tablet and images aren’t syncing. This should never happen, but better safe than sorry.

When creating projects, you have the option of adding contacts. These contacts are used to assign roles and are included when you generate call sheet PDFs. You can manage contacts for a specific project inside the call sheet tab of that project. When you add a contact to a project, those contacts are also added to a global contact database that you can use across projects. You can create them manually or you can import them from your devices contact list.

Important to note, deleting a contact from inside of CineLog Pro contact database will not delete an imported contact from your phone’s contacts.

Technical Preferences #

In the technical preferences section you have the ability to change several technical units of measurement.

  • Measurement Units – Imperial / Metric
    • These are used in shot details as well as in technical calculators to determine various distance calculations.
  • Temperature Units – Fahrenheit / Celsius
    • These are used in weather forecasts for location scouts and call sheets.
  • Shutter Display – Shutter Angle / Shutter Speed
    • These are shown in shot details and used in various technical calculators.
  • Calibration Constant – 340 / 250 / 12.5
    • This is used to determine outputs in in tools like Exposure Calculator and Lighting Ratio Calculator. You would choose the option that bets aligns with the type of light meter you are using on set. If you don’t know what your light meter is just google the meter model + “calibration constant”. Using the incorrect setting will show expected light meter readings in the calculators that won’t align with what you should be reading. Not the end of the world, but if you want to fully trust the math you should choose the correct option.
      • 12.5 is typical for in-camera meters and handheld reflected/spot meters
      • 250 is typical for incident meters with a flat diffuser
      • 340 is typical for incident meters with a hemispherical dome
  • Time Format – 12-hour / 24-hour
    • Used for call sheets and weather forecasts

Scene & Shot Preferences #

In the Scene and Shot Preferences section you have the option to turn on or off auto numbering features as well as choose your auto numbering preference.

  • Auto Numbering – On / Off
    • When turned on, every time you create a new Scene or Shot, the app will assign it a number automatically based on your preferences and will auto number it as the next in line. This is useful if you’re creating a lot of items at once and would like to save a step in filling out a box or don’t want to keep track of what already exists.
  • Numbering Convention – Number-Letter / Letter-Number
    • With Auto Numbering turned on, the app needs to know your preference in how you want things numbers. Depending on where you are in the world you might use number for scenes and letters for shots or you might use letters for scenes and numbers for shots. This option selects Scene/Shot conventions. So if you select Number-Letter then your scenes will use numbers and your shots will use letters.
  • Exclude I/O – Yes / No
    • Again for Auto Numbering, when this is set to yes, Auto Numbering will skip the letters I and O to prevent confusing them with 1 and 0.

System Preferences & Export Projects #

Next you have the option to select your Theme which will change the color scheme for the app. Occasionally you might find limited time options based on the season.

When exporting projects here, you have the option to export .CSV and .TXT files allowing you to import or edit the project data in other apps. Important to note that exporting a .CSV or .TXT will not export reference images for shots. You also have the option to export detailed project reports in PDF that include all scenes, shots, and shot data along with reference images. This is useful for post production references. Lastly, you can export PDF Storyboards, which will export all of your shots in a 3×2 landscape layout to use while shooting if you prefer a paper copy to see your reference images while shooting. Any shot without a reference image will print a blank storyboard for you to sketch in if you like.

Danger Zone #

At the very bottom of the setting stab you will see a Clear All Data button. This button will delete all of your project data permanently and is non-recoverable. You are required to long hold the delete button to confirm. Again, this option is non-recoverable and should only be completed if you want everything to completely disappear forever and ever, the end.
